Multi-Game Model of reverse logistics in the manufacturing industry

Abstract: Economic value of reverse logistics is increasingly concerned inrecent years. Reverse logistics of EOL is also concerned. According to analysisof present situation of implement in reverse logistics, the paper present multi-gamemodel of reverse logistics among Third-party logistics (3PL), manufacturingenterprise, government, and customer. The first phase is the multi-game mode amongmanufacturing enterprise, government, consumers, the second phase is "principal- agent" model between manufacturers and 3PL. The paper classifiesproducts by recycling value and environment pollution, and analyzes gameprocess of different kinds of products. Then the paper conducts strategy of participationin reverse logistics, and choice of logistics mode for manufacturing enterprise.By application example of salvage computer, the result shows the effectivityand feasibility of the game model of reverse logistics.

1 Introduction

China's economic development adopted the traditional model of "massproduction, mass consumption, mass waste" for long, which caused enormouspressure by the ecological environment and resource use. EOL (End-of-life)Product usually refers to the old and the end life of the manufacturingproducts, or refers to the holder does not continue to conserve and utilize thevalue of the material. At present, many manufacturing EOL products have a dualnature, which means that the potential environmental harm and renewableresources. In order to promote reverse logistics activities of enterprise, andachieve sustainable development goals, setting up the positive interactionmechanism among government, enterprises, consumers and 3PL should not be delayed.With the current situation in China,the study on decision-making behavior of the inherent mechanism among thegovernment and enterprises, consumers, 3PL in the manufacturing process ofreverse logistics, has theoretical and practical value.

Lots of academicians have focused on game model of the implement for reverselogistics. Li Jinyong(2007,2008) analyzesthe game process between enterprise and government in implementing the reverselogistics. Based on the game theory, this paper builds up a static game modeland a dynamic game model. Ma Zujun(2008) sets up a dynamic game model forreturned logistics implemented by household appliances manufacturers. The Multi dimensional game problems of two householdappliances manufacturers are investigated, and the equilibrium and the optimalmanagerial strategies based on the equilibrium profit were obtained. JiaXiaomei(2005) analyzes the model of recycling logistics in no-systemarrangement and system arrangement , and arrives at the general game model ofreverse logistics in system arrangement. Cao Xiyu(2008) considers whether enterprises implementthe reverse logistics is a multi-game between enterprises, customers andgovernment, And develops the models to educe whether implementing the reverselogistics. Spicer(2004) analyzes three reverse logistics modes in implementing ERP(extendedproducer responsibility), discusses advantages and opportunities of implementingthe reverse logistics by 3PL, obtains that 3PL is the most effective reverse mode which is suitable to majority EOL product. Hilary G. Grimes – Casey set up a game mode to enhance reverse effectivity of Packaging bottles.
