The foreign logistics center originated afterWorld War II and first appeared in the U.S.A, followed by Japan and WesternEurope and other countries and regions. It is the product of logisticsdistribution professionalization and social development. The concept of logisticswas introduced to Mainland China at the 1980s, and a number of logisticscenters were established in the 1990s, but the overall progress of thedevelopment has substantially lagged behind compared with the developedcountries.
In the literature review section, the functionsand types of the logistics center, as well as the technology categories anddevelopment processes involved, are described.
The thesis investigated the current situation and problemsexhibited in the logistics centers of Jiayi Logistics Co., taking Jinan LogisticsDistribution Center of Jiayi Logistics Co. as an example, and analyzed thefeasibility of the solutions to the problems. Finally, the thesis reached aconclusion that logistics technologies in logistics distribution centers shouldbe urgently upgraded and the upgrading direction and idea was put forward.1. Introduction
Various forms ofmerchandise logistics centers have been developed based on the storage, transportation, wholesale corporations in order to meet the needs of economicdevelopment and commodity circulation in Europe, America and Japan. During1960-1980s, with rapid economic development, logistics centers in developedcountries were promoted toward networking and informatization, which deeplyshaped the way of producing and consuming of the society. As of the 1980s, theselogistics centers had replaced the traditional wholesale system and functionedas the backbone of commodity circulation system, which played an important safeguardingand intermediary role in putting forward the circulation towards modernizationand the trade toward globalization. According to experts' estimation, logisticsoutput value accounts for 10-25% of GDP in the developed countries, while thedistribution centers play a central role in creating this output value.
Practices haveproved that it is a significant part of establishing and completing the new circulationsystem under the condition of socialist market economy system to develop new informationized, modernized and socialized logistics distribution centers. After nearly a decadeof practicing and exploring, China has built a number of modern logisticscenters that integrate business flow, logistics flow, and information flow as awhole and incorporate storing and keeping, distributing and transshipping, distributionprocessing, commodity distribution, information delivering, purchase and sale delegating, and successive servicing together. But roughly, due to the lack of scientificplanning and design, operation and management of China's logistics centers owncertain problems to varying degrees. About 80% are not standardized in aspectssuch as unclear operating direction, imperfect functionalities, unreasonableprocessing, incorrect preference in equipment selection, low modernizationlevel, and low equipment utilization. This situation not only causes a waste ofequipment resources of distribution centers, but also causes unnecessarytrouble to business extension and equipment updates.
