POM Special Issue on Not for Profit Operations Management
Over the past few years, there has been increasing interest in studying operational issues run by organizations that have not for profit incentives. In the area of Production and Operations Management (POM), the applied areas that have captured more attention related to this type of operations are humanitarian disaster management and global health care, but not for profit operations appear in multiple other applied settings. With this special issue we encourage POM researchers to develop rigorous and relevant analytical and empirical research in this emerging field of study. The topics related to not for profit operations of interest to the special issue include but are not limited to:
· Pricing
· Inventory
· Procurement and Supplier selection
· Logistics in not for profit operations
· Funds allocation
· Donor problem of monitoring recipients
· Donor problem of benchmarking recipients’ performance
· Coordination between different recipient organizations
· Coordination between different donors
· Donor-recipient relationship
· Performance measures
· The design of fundraising mechanisms
· The management of donations (earmarked donations, gifts-in-kind, voluntary labor)
Deadline for submission of full papers will be announced after the 2014 POM conference to be held in Atlanta.
