“Intelligent Transportation and Logistics in Manufacturing with Big Data”
Call for Papers
Special Issue on "Intelligent Transportation and Logistics in Manufacturing with Big Data"
International Journal of Production Economics
Background:
Transportation and logistics are important supply and distribution activities in both intra- and inter-company manufacturing and production processes. With the increasing prevalence of internet of things and new digital technologies, intelligent transportation and logistics make it easier for manufacturers to ensure a secure, streamlined supply chain, and efficient goods transportation and fulfillment processes. At the same time, an enormous amount of data is generated in the smart transportation and logistics, which brings new opportunities and challenges. Smart manufacturing needs intelligent logistics and transportation. Big data provides unprecedented opportunities for the development of intelligent transportation and logistics industries in manufacturing. By taking full advantage of big data, we can make informed decision and management on controlling costs, improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and achieving other goals.
Although there are many advantages brought by the new technologies and big data in intelligent transportation and logistics in manufacturing, there are also challenges that affect its performance. These include the fusion of multi-source data and transparent management in manufacturing with big data, the integration of intelligent logistics and transportation with smart manufacturing at different levels of design, planning and operational decisions, business intelligence and integration among the supply chain partners with cloud-based transportation and logistics.
The purpose of this special issue is to publish the latest significant results related to intelligent transportation and logistics in manufacturing with big data, with focus on artificial intelligence in transportation and logistics, data-driven modelling and solution methods, and innovative applications and insights in manufacturing. Original, high quality contributions that are neither published nor considered for publication elsewhere are welcomed to submit. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
Intelligent transportation in manufacturing with big data
Data-driven logistics optimization in manufacturing
Dynamic supply chain network design and optimization
Cloud based systems in transportation and logistics
- Smart warehouse management and intelligence
- Last-mile delivery optimization
Smart logistics and supply chains management in Industry 4.0
